NCSF UPDATE:

SM COMMUNITIES FIGHT BACK
by Lisa V.

April is shaping up to be an active month for NCSF and the battles to protect our sexual freedom.

On one front, the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom Foundation has launched a petition in support of adult chat groups on Yahoo! These groups are some of the best outlets for open communication on the Internet about adult consensual, sexual activities. But after pressure from religious political extremists, Yahoo! is increasingly hampering our ability to use these groups to meet, discuss, and educate other adults about alternative sexual expression. Speak out and add your signature to the petition, through April 30th, at http://www.ncsf-foundation.org/petition.

Meanwhile, still another SM-oriented event is the target of campaigns mounted by religious, political extremist groups. "Beat Me in St. Louis," an annual conference sponsored by the organization Leather & Lace, has this year drawn the ire of Concerned Women for America (CWA), the American Family Association (AFA), and the Southern Baptist Convention, who have initiated a boycott against the hotel where the event is scheduled to be held.

NCSF has been working with Leather and Lace to shape response to the boycott. While it looks as though the hotel will stand firm in honoring its commitment, emphasizing the private and lawful nature of the gathering, there are still several weeks to go. There has already been a good amount of national coverage in the media and there promises to be more as the fight intensifies. In face of media attention, it's critical that we make our presence known - as a community and as individuals who support the freedom of sexual expression. Just a few letters to the editor can make a tremendous difference!

Meeting Reports:

No Stay of Execution : Governess Margaret Lays Down The Law at TES
by 007

The Spanking Group got a very special treat last Wednesday at TES. Ms. Margaret Davis, introduced by group leader Michael as "a world-renowned spanker", gave a highly informative presentation on domestic discipline. The founder of the Spanking Club of New York (SCONY) went into exceptional detail on what she refers to as "Old-fashioned, Platonic, Traditional, Institutional, Loving And Parental discipline". Among the highlights of the discussion, Ms. Margaret described the different varieties of spanking (playful, disciplinary, sensuous, erotic, and "maintenance") and pointed out the characteristics of a common chain of events known to spankers as "The Ritual". Ms. Margaret had a young, beautiful girl named Sonya with her at the presentation, and much to the delight of the audience, Sonya was taught a good lesson over Ms. Margaret's knee. A strong advocate against abuse, Ms. Margaret has used her organization and business savvy to donate over $15,000 in scholarships to deserving kids. For more information, check out www.scony.com. On behalf of all those who attended, we owe Ms. Margaret a great deal of thanks for a wonderful evening.
