TOYS FOR TOTS REPORT
by Hilton

Thanks to all the people that donated to the Toys for Tots. We were able to buy close to $1500.00 worth of toys at below wholesale. Special thanks to TES, Rope and Vixen, Catelyn, Wes and Lolita for their very generous donations. You have all helped to make the holidays a lot nicer for many underprivileged children.

CANING WORKSHOP AT PADDLES: "THE BEST" INDEED
by 007

Fans of traditional caning got more than "six of the best" last Saturday night as Hilton from Purple Passion presented a workshop on caning at Paddles with assistance from Catelynn. In terms of preparation, thoroughness, and overall presentation, Hilton gave an unparalleled performance, reading from over 100 notecards on the history, maintenance, and techniques of caning. Beginning with the history of caning from Asia and Europe, Hilton also shared from his own personal experiences growing up in Africa and attending British school where caning was the norm. Hilton provided a wide array of examples of canes (thin, medium, and thick examples of rattan, bamboo, and synthetic) and went into thorough detail on the effects each type of cane has, in addition to their maintenance (canes will either break in the center from being too dry or at the tip from excessive force). After this highly informative introduction, Catelynn graciously stepped forward as a volunteer as Hilton demonstrated various styles of caning on her backside, taking care to point out several problem areas where caution is warranted. It was an amazing display which had the small but fascinated audience completely enthralled. Catelynn herself also provided tips and advice on the techniques involved. Although relatively short (starting at 7:15 and ending at 8:50), not a moment was wasted in this incredible evening.

HUNGRY FOR THE HOLIDAY POTLUCK?

Come volunteer! We need folks to come in early on Tuesday, December 18th to help set up, and others to help serve food and keep the place clean. Finally, if you can stay to help us clean up afterwards, we'll really appreciate it! We'll also need people to do a little shopping beforehand. You'll get in to the Pot Luck for free, and you'll get to meet EVERYONE and help with one of our great traditions! If you can help, please contact Tower4TES@aol.com!
