They are not required to be experts in all types of play, nor do they need to be any specific size or gender. All are welcome, whether you plan to volunteer with TES or not. Do you know a thing or two about dungeon safety? Have you had a less than perfect experience with a DM at a party and thought, “I can do better”? Maybe you just have a fetish for neon-yellow traffic vests? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please join us for our live training workshops! These workshops are intended to supplement our newly updated online training found (coming soon) and are free to anyone who has successfully completed the unit “DM 101”. All others are welcome to join us at our standard class rates. Please note that, due to time constraints, we will not be able to more than a quick review of the materials covered online. In combination with our online training, these workshops are designed as a comprehensive introduction to DMing, and will cover everything you need to know to get started DMing at TES events and TES Fest. Experienced DMs are invited to attend as a refresher and to share their wisdom with others. Our DM Training Workshop will consist of two parts: Play Safety Knowledge Share Circle - Tuesday, June 4th In this knowledge share session, we will discuss safety considerations for various types of play you are likely to encounter as a DM. Attendees are invited to bring their personal experience and expertise as we analyze what to look for in different types of scenes, what to prioritize, and how best to ensure scenes are in harmony with event rules. Scenario Roleplay and Discussion Lab - Wednesday, June 5th In this section, we will roleplay various situations you may encounter as a DM, many derived for real-life incidents. Attendees will take turns acting out different scenarios, each followed by a brief discussion and constructive critique to determine the best course of action for similar situations in the future. As part of advancing students understanding of modifications of ties to suit sadistic intent, this class presents both floor ties and partial suspensions designed to inflict pain in a risk aware fashion. Not for the feint of heart (or sensitive of foot) this class explores construiction, body manipulation and leverage mechanics for the purpose of making the smallest parts of the body speak the loudest. This class has 3 main sections: 1. Toe and Calf Articulation 2. Foot Torture floor ties 3. Single Toe Partial Suspensions Learning Pre-Requisites For people who tie: Students attempting parts 1 & 2 of this class need no previous experience but should preferably be aware of the risk profile for toe, feet and calf ties.(risk profile will be covered but is preferable to be aware ahead of time). Students who wish to participate in part 3 of this class need to be able to tie the following while holding a conversation: (in addition to the pre-requisites mentioned for part 1 & 2) Single Column Tie Chest Harness (any) Suspension line attachment Half Hitch Lock offs (for suspension lines) Munter Hitch frictions (for suspension lines) For people being tied: Students attempting parts 1 & 2 of this class need to be comfortable with toe, feet and calf pain and preferably be aware of the risk profile entailed with tying these areas (risk profile will be covered but is preferable to be aware ahead of time).
