This course will focus on both topping and bottoming skills\nallowing the participants to grow as a team tying together. Tops will learn about\nchest harnesses\, suspension lines\, suspension positions and balance\, and\ncommunication during suspension. Bottoms will learn tips about suspension\, testing\nties before they are loaded\, making adjustments\, speaking up and finding out\npreferred ties and positions. \nTopics to be covered:\n– Building solid chest harnesses\n– Assessing tie stability\n– Suspension lines Suspension basics\n– Normal sensation in suspension\n– Testing harnesses on the ground\n– Finding more and less comfortable positions\n– Making adjustments in ties \nPre-requisites:\n– Tops\no At least 2 stable chest harnesses. Only one of them may be a TK/box\ntie\no A stable hip harness (ideally 2)\no Ability to take critique from bottoms and desire to solve problems\n– Bottoms\no Ability to tell when things are working or problematic in ties\no Comfort speaking up when there is a problem\no Desire to problem solve with top \nRequired materials\n– At least 8 (and ideally 10) 8-9 meter ropes for suspension (nylon\, mfp\, hemp\,\nor jute)\n– A suspension ring and 3-4 weight rated carabineers OR 6 weight rated\ncarabineers\n– Any aftercare needs \nBelle- doesn’t have a specific style of bondage but most of what she does\nis based on the Japanese style of bondage. Her goals are to create manageable pain\nfor my bottoms and to create an experience that both enjoy\, meaning that the type\nof rope she does at any given time is highly dependent on the person that she is\ntying. She really enjoys doing both structured ties and unstructured or informal ties\,\nagain\, dependent on the goals of the scene. Her style of presentation is to have as\nmuch interactive time as possible and for the participants share their experience\nand bring their knowledge to the class. She tends to prefer leading workshop-style\nclasses where the students learn the concept through a series of progressive\nactivities designed to get them to think about their own tying. The goal is to teach\nthem something that they can apply to their own scenes and their own styles.

Panelist to be announced. \nSome topics for discussion:\nHow do you negotiate for power play in a play scene vs in a long-term relationship? What are some models for consent in power exchange relationships?  Where do we draw the ethical line?  How does gender\, race\, sexuality\, kink and other identities and labels affect your experiences with consent practices and power-exchange relationships? How do you identify your needs and limits and assert them for yourself\, while not imposing upon the needs and limits of others? Do you impose on others and if so to what extent?  How is consent applied to intangible expectations of honesty\, transparency\, effort vs more tangible expectations within play and relationships? \nWhile this discussion will include sharing our personal and interpersonal struggles\, the focus will be how consent is or should be navigated when one party is agreeing to give up some of their autonomy.

Have you ever tried to tie up your friend\, partner\, cousin\, stuffie\, kitchen chair\, etc just to see if they can get out of it? If you like rope\, I bet you have tried this once or twice. I bet you were frustrated if that person was able to escape as well… HAVE NO FEAR! I am here to teach you how to create ties that will have the escape artist in your life cussing up a storm. Hope to see you there! (This class is intended for partners\, but we may have one for you. People should bring 3 – 30 foot hanks of rope or what ever size you like to tie with\, we will have some for you if you don’t have any\, and a good imagination. ) \nPresenter Bio\nGreetings! Dr Blackwell here! I love to teach and extend my knowledge onto others as well as learn new things myself. I pride myself on being approachable almost all of the time so please feel free to come chat. I mainly teach about fire\, wax\, and rope\, but have started creating fun games for the kink community as well!\nAs an instructor\, I have been teaching kink related materials for about 4 years\, and I have just started outwardly seeking more events to teach at. However\, I have been teaching people the knowledge in my head for about 15 years. I love to teach people new concepts and ideas regardless of the platform. As a player\, I have been doing rope for about 10 years\, fire for about 8 years\, and rough body play for about 8 years. I also have a bit of marital arts experience as well.
