SUMMARY:TES Presents: Your First Flight - Beginning Suspension\, with Belle
DESCRIPTION:LOCATION\, COST\, & REGISTRATION INFO TBD \nStudents will gain the skills and tools necessary to safely do\nbasic rope suspensions. This course will focus on both topping and bottoming skills\nallowing the participants to grow as a team tying together. Tops will learn about\nchest harnesses\, suspension lines\, suspension positions and balance\, and\ncommunication during suspension. Bottoms will learn tips about suspension\, testing\nties before they are loaded\, making adjustments\, speaking up and finding out\npreferred ties and positions. \nTopics to be covered:\n– Building solid chest harnesses\n– Assessing tie stability\n– Suspension lines Suspension basics\n– Normal sensation in suspension\n– Testing harnesses on the ground\n– Finding more and less comfortable positions\n– Making adjustments in ties \nPre-requisites:\n– Tops\no At least 2 stable chest harnesses. Only one of them may be a TK/box\ntie\no A stable hip harness (ideally 2)\no Ability to take critique from bottoms and desire to solve problems\n– Bottoms\no Ability to tell when things are working or problematic in ties\no Comfort speaking up when there is a problem\no Desire to problem solve with top \nRequired materials\n– At least 8 (and ideally 10) 8-9 meter ropes for suspension (nylon\, mfp\, hemp\,\nor jute)\n– A suspension ring and 3-4 weight rated carabineers OR 6 weight rated\ncarabineers\n– Any aftercare needs \nBelle- doesn’t have a specific style of bondage but most of what she does\nis based on the Japanese style of bondage. Her goals are to create manageable pain\nfor my bottoms and to create an experience that both enjoy\, meaning that the type\nof rope she does at any given time is highly dependent on the person that she is\ntying. She really enjoys doing both structured ties and unstructured or informal ties\,\nagain\, dependent on the goals of the scene. Her style of presentation is to have as\nmuch interactive time as possible and for the participants share their experience\nand bring their knowledge to the class. She tends to prefer leading workshop-style\nclasses where the students learn the concept through a series of progressive\nactivities designed to get them to think about their own tying. The goal is to teach\nthem something that they can apply to their own scenes and their own styles.

SUMMARY:Consent: Event Producers & Group Organizers Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:TES Members $5\nStudents\, Senior Citizens\, & Military with ID $10\nReciprocal Groups $10\nNon-Members $20\nCash Only\nDoors open at 7:00 pm – Meeting begins at 7:30 pm\nRunning a kink event poses no shortage of challenges\, not least of which are those in the arena of consent. Join us as we continue the discussion from September’s Consent Summit\, as we tackle such issues as: \n– How do we address incidents at our events?\n– What degree of safety can be guaranteed? Can (and how can) consent be enforced?\n– Can (and should) we attempt to address accusations of issues that occur outside our events?\n– Is there an inherent conflict of interest between ensuring safety and making profit\, and can it be overcome?\n– Can we balance support for victims with due process?\n– Are bans a viable means to deal with offenders? Do restorative justice principles offer an alternative? \nWhile this discussion will focus on the issues faced by event producers and organizers\, event attendees are welcome and encouraged to provide their input. TES’ very own Chair of Socials and DMs\, Zero\, will be moderating this important discussion as we work to map out an actionable plan to tackle these important issues in our community.

SUMMARY:TES Presents: Consent in Power Exchange Panel Discussion\, moderated by Ramon
DESCRIPTION:Come join us as we continue this conversation started at the joint TES/NCSF Consent Summit! We will discuss the obstacles we all face within our power exchange identities and relationships. Panelist to be announced. \nSome topics for discussion:\nHow do you negotiate for power play in a play scene vs in a long-term relationship? What are some models for consent in power exchange relationships?  Where do we draw the ethical line?  How does gender\, race\, sexuality\, kink and other identities and labels affect your experiences with consent practices and power-exchange relationships? How do you identify your needs and limits and assert them for yourself\, while not imposing upon the needs and limits of others? Do you impose on others and if so to what extent?  How is consent applied to intangible expectations of honesty\, transparency\, effort vs more tangible expectations within play and relationships? \nWhile this discussion will include sharing our personal and interpersonal struggles\, the focus will be how consent is or should be navigated when one party is agreeing to give up some of their autonomy.

SUMMARY:Shenanigans and Fuckery- Escape From This One!\, with Dr. Blackwell
DESCRIPTION:Welcome everyone! Dr. Blackwell here\, with a class that will teach you the basics for creating inescapable ties. Have you ever tried to tie up your friend\, partner\, cousin\, stuffie\, kitchen chair\, etc just to see if they can get out of it? If you like rope\, I bet you have tried this once or twice. I bet you were frustrated if that person was able to escape as well… HAVE NO FEAR! I am here to teach you how to create ties that will have the escape artist in your life cussing up a storm. Hope to see you there! (This class is intended for partners\, but we may have one for you. People should bring 3 – 30 foot hanks of rope or what ever size you like to tie with\, we will have some for you if you don’t have any\, and a good imagination. ) \nPresenter Bio\nGreetings! Dr Blackwell here! I love to teach and extend my knowledge onto others as well as learn new things myself. I pride myself on being approachable almost all of the time so please feel free to come chat. I mainly teach about fire\, wax\, and rope\, but have started creating fun games for the kink community as well!\nAs an instructor\, I have been teaching kink related materials for about 4 years\, and I have just started outwardly seeking more events to teach at. However\, I have been teaching people the knowledge in my head for about 15 years. I love to teach people new concepts and ideas regardless of the platform. As a player\, I have been doing rope for about 10 years\, fire for about 8 years\, and rough body play for about 8 years. I also have a bit of marital arts experience as well. I took Taekwondo for about 6 years and I am trained in Army combatives level 1 and 2. \nI teach completely unconventionally most of the time. I am not the person that enjoys step one\, step two\, step three\, etc. I love to think outside the box on new ways things can be done\, especially if it doesn’t require as much safety as suspension ties and intricate fire play do. I do like to do an extensive amount of research on things that I like to do thought\, and if I don’t have an answer for students in the class I generally have a good idea of where to find it. Of course rough body play\, fire play\, and rope can be dangerous\, much like anything else that we all love to do\, so I go over safety precautions for everything that we will be doing. \nTES Members $5\nStudents & Military with ID $10\nReciprocal Groups $10\nNon-Members $20\nCash Only\nDoors open at 7:00 pm – Meeting begins at 7:30 pm\nPlease note the LOCATION:\nAlchemical Theatre Laboratory\nElevator access is available but must call the office at (212) 675-1390

SUMMARY:Rope Group: Sadistic Rope for Novices\, with Sasori_D
DESCRIPTION:Sadistic rope is one of the most intense types of scenes that two people can engage in\, bringing both the top and bottom to their limits\, and often blurring the lines between pain and pleasure. In this hands-on class\, we will cover a glimpse into Sasori_D‘s approach to sadistic rope scenes at a conceptual and practical level\, with an intent to provide tops with an insightful look into the mechanics of sadistic rope\, common trip ups and things to keep in mind before putting rope to skin. \nThis class will be broken down into several sections\, which will be covered depending on pace set by the class.\n1.     Sadistic Bondage Components\n2.     Sadistic Leg Ties\n3.     Predicament Floor Positions. \nThis class is targeted at a beginner to intermediate level of rope and will cover leg and chest ties. Please bring 5-6 hanks for rope and a rope cutting tool. \nAbout the Instructor\nSasori_D is an Australian sadomasochistic rope switch who has found himself wrapped in the New York city kink scene and neck deep in rope. Best described as a “reaction fetishist”\, he has spent his kink journey exploring the various means upon which he can elicit yelps\, moans and screams from his play partners. Formally educated under Bluerisk and informally under a gamut of others\, Sasori brings to bear a style that emphasizes connection\, calculated risk and jovial sadism.

SUMMARY:Leather Academy: Odile Gets Schooled
DESCRIPTION:Once upon a time\, Odile wondered where we as kinksters came from. Probably not the stork\, although YKINMKBYKIO. After a few conversations with fellow kinksters about what happens when a Leather Top and a Bootblack love each other very much\, she realized leather wasn’t a reference to materials for floggers and whips; Leather is a Community and a Tradition. \nGenerally thought to have developed out of post-WWII biker culture\, Leather evokes imagery of Marlon Brando in The Wild One and gay Leathermen declaring their pride at events like Folsom. Leather can include individuals of every race\, background\, identity\, and orientation\, and represents a vital part of our history as a community. \nOdile is filled with a burning curiosity to understand what Leather is\, what its relationship to the larger kink scene is\, and to learn about its history. If you\, like Odile\, want to know more about this rich and storied community and its role as the progenitor of the modern kink scene\, come watch as a panel of Leather folks school Odile on what it means to be part of the Leather community. \nLeather Academy Faculty: \nSara_Vibes \ngirlstacey \nStacey Rose is Ms. FLAG (Fits Like A Glove) 2016. She has identified as a Leather girl since 2010 and has been active in the NYC\, Los Angeles\, Austin\, and New England Leather communities since then. She is the President of the Connecticut girls of Leather\, the former VP of Los Angeles girls of Leather\, as well as the former facilitator of Masters and slaves Together (MAsT): Hartford. Her biggest fetishes are authority transfer and community service. \nNinjajuicer \nAnd more to come!
