Join us as Desmond Ravenstone – director of NCSF’s Sex Work Project – outlines the history behind this movement\, facts and fallacies surrounding commercial sex\, and what individuals and groups can do to help. \nDesmond Ravenstone has been an activist and educator in various issues\, including sexual freedom\, for more than thirty years. A graduate of Oberlin College\, his degree in sociology and anthropology included research into the birth of the sex workers’ rights movement. Along with his work for the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF)\, he is administrator of Clients of Sex Workers Allied for Change (CoSWAC)\, and a founding member of the Massachusetts Sex Worker Allies Network (MASWAN).

Learning how to tie suspensions safely\, suspension gear\, line management and how to tie suspensions quickly.  \nNow we are in the air. Now what? If it doesn’t cause immediate injury\, are we still setting ourselves up for problems down the road? I’m a top\, what could be happening to me? Let’s face it\, as much as we might wish it so\, one day we will no longer be in our 20’s\, but hopefully we’ll still be inhabiting our body. How can our play today impact the long term health of our body? While there isn’t a lot of research available on BDSM Play and long term health concerns\, there is research from other traumatic (yes even if we enjoy it\, our physical being might be experiencing trauma) events on the body. We’ll discuss play\, research and then suggest some ways to assess and modify (if needed) your risk exposure. Flogging\, or flagellation\, is the act of methodically beating or whipping (Latin: flagellum\, “whip”) the human body. In this class you’ll learn the rich history of flogging as a form of corporal punishment throughout the world\, and what materials\, vendors\, and resources are out there for this simple\, yet versatile method of inducing pain. \nYou’ll also learn various methods for striking various parts of your partner\, how to vary your pacing\, power\, and speed for maximum effect\, and\, if the time permits\, start the basics of florentine flogging — the style of flagellation used in BDSM involving the rhythmic use of a pair of matching floggers\, one in each hand. \nBring on the Flogging Fun\, Pain and Punishment! \nPlease bring your own floggers to participate. \n  \nBIO: \nRamon is an active member of the NYC BDSM scene\, and is involved with various organizations including The Eulenspiegel Society (TES)\, where he is a Board member as well as a class presenter. By not focusing on tying something correctly\, we can bring our attention back to our partner in the scene frequently leading to a more connected and pleasurable scene for everyone. \nSuitable for all levels of experience. \nBIO:\nBelle- has been an avid aficionado of rope since discovering kink more than five years ago. Her journey has taken her from bottom to self-tier to top over that same period of time. Since starting to tie\, she helped found a Rope Bite and a Hitchin’ Bitches chapter in her hometown of Kalamazoo\, MI.
