A beginner-friendly dive into the how and why of bootblacking. We’ll cover a bit of history, break down common materials and tools, and demonstrate techniques that keep leather looking (and feeling) delicious. We’ll also discuss consent, service dynamics, and the flirty magic that can spark over a pair of boots. Designed for the leather-curious, nervous newbies, and anyone who’s ever wondered what really happens at a bootblack stand. No experience required—just curiosity and a love for leather.
Bio: Vikan (she/they) is a queer masochist, photographer, and bootblack who’s been active in the NYC kink scene since 2011. A chaos-loving weirdo who is somehow both extremely outgoing and painfully shy, she runs on snacks, aerial arts, and an incurable fascination with leather. She loves the care, history, and intimacy of well-loved boots—and yes, she absolutely wants to touch yours… if you’ll let her.
