February 27, 2019 @ 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM TES Hypno Group: Setting Your Subjects Up for Success, with Sex-Obsessed-Lesbian "I don’t think I was really in trance." "But I was still able to move my arm." "I’m a really difficult subject." "I guess I just can’t be hypnotized." Most of us have heard these sentiments, from our subjects or friends or even our own brains. This kind of thinking can lead to, at best, self-doubt, and at worst, someone deciding that hypno just isn’t for them. How can we as ‘tists make sure that our subjects have a successful and empowering trance experience, and come away from it knowing that hypnosis is a thing that they can do? In this class, we’ll explore this very question, and discuss the things that ‘tists can do to help their subjects succeed. Some of the topics we'll cover: pre-talk and negotiation; safety; choosing the right inductions and triggers; and how to respond when your subject says, "That didn’t work!" Subject-inclined folks are more than welcome as well: we would love to hear your thoughts on these questions! And if you feel like a quote-unquote difficult subject, we hope we can give you a new perspective! March 26, 2019 @ 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM Kink And Neurodiversity: An open discussion The Alchemical, Studio 1 104 West 14th street, New York, United States Our community celebrates diversity in its many forms, including sexuality, gender, kink, religion, and race. We are at the forefront of standing up for disabilities as well and provide accommodation for people with physical challenges of various forms, as well as reduced scent environments. We provide helpful information for those of us who suffer from depression and other forms of mental illness, providing a safe place to talk about our challenges. But one area of challenge in our community is around the topic of neurodiversity. Neurodiversity is the idea that neurological differences are recognized, understood and accepted. These include many forms of invisible disabilities, including Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Dyscalculia, Autistic Spectrum, Tourette Syndrome, as well as others. Individuals with neurological differences in the kink community speak of feeling marginalized and excluded, while kink organizers struggle with issues of wanting to provide an atmosphere that feels safe and welcoming to all. Come join us for an open discussion on March 26th run by The Eulenspiegel Society on this important topic. The discussion will be facilitated by Vir Cotto, a kinkster and occasional presenter. Vir identifies as neuro-divergent, heaving learning disabilities, ADHD. Struggling with the challenges associated with being "twice exceptional" Vir has an understanding of these challenges of being "different" and can provide insight on both the difficulties that neuro-non-typical people feel, as well as the challenges associated with creating a welcoming, accommodating spaces. All are welcome to the discussion on March 26th. Neurodivergent kinksters, as well as community organizers, are especially welcome. Doors open at 7, class begins at 7:30.
