What do you do when you're a masochist, but don't consent to the physical pain brought on by your own body? How can you feel comfortable in your submissive role when you feel like you can't serve to the best of your ability? Or dominate when you're in too much pain to move? Developing a chronic physical illness can be challenging for anybody, but it may be especially challenging in our context. This class will focus on what it is like to have a chronic physical illness while in the kink community. We will discuss how limits/negotiation might change, how to fulfill your kinky needs, and learning how to accept this new part of you and integrate it into new or existing dynamics. KinseyStarr is a 27 year old breast cancer survivor who has been an active member of the New York scene for over three years. She is the co-founder of the Society of Switches (SOS) and the Switch Munch. Kinsey has taught a SSASE class on non-monogamy and has been on panels for subjects such as bratting, ethical non-monogamy, and running a munch. In the past two years, Kinsey has had six surgeries on various part of her body and six rounds of chemotherapy. Most of us have heard these sentiments, from our subjects or friends or even our own brains. This kind of thinking can lead to, at best, self-doubt, and at worst, someone deciding that hypno just isn’t for them. How can we as ‘tists make sure that our subjects have a successful and empowering trance experience, and come away from it knowing that hypnosis is a thing that they can do?  In this class, we’ll explore this very question, and discuss the things that ‘tists can do to help their subjects succeed. Some of the topics we'll cover: pre-talk and negotiation; safety; choosing the right inductions and triggers; and how to respond when your subject says, "That didn’t work!" This class explores the intensity and emotions that may be experienced during the scene, incorporating experiences from both the top and bottom perspectives. As we walk down the path of rope education and exploration, we at some point spot a scene that just blows us away. The connection, intensity, pace and flow just seems completely in sync and the people involved seem to meld into a cohesive unit. In each of these scenes the intensity and emotional levels are controlled by both the top and bottom as if in a dance.
