Constructed with the permission of barkas, this class is my own personal interpretation of the Rope Interview. This class will explore rope as a means of power exchange. This does not necessarily mean power dynamic, power exchange can be as simple as the tying partner setting a tone of “I will tie you” and the tied partner agreeing to that tone, “I will let you tie me”. We will examine how to create, develop and maintain this exchange with rope through the metaphor of asking questions and an analysis of our own non-verbal signals. Students will learn how to pick up on their partner’s signals and discover how their own behaviors may be interpreted by their partner. We will utilize a variety of ippon-nawa (one rope) exercises and if time allows apply the concepts to a patterned tie. The class will consist of a brief discussion on the concepts central to the rope interview, a series of demonstrations and hands-on exercises. It’s a TES tradition, and this year we will be holding our Dirty Santa (aka White Elephant) Gift Exchange at The Jolly Bloody Good Holiday Play Party at Parthenon on December 23rd. The fun starts at 10pm (so don’t worry, if your attending Novice & Newcomers Munch, we wont start without you)! How to Play To participate, all you need to do is bring a wrapped gift of no more than $25 in value. It can be anything: something kinky, something festive, something downright ridiculous (gag gifts are absolutely encouraged). We will assemble all the wrapped gifts in a pile, then at 10pm we will draw names. The first person called may pick any gift from the pile, unwrap it, and show everyone so we can ooh and ahh. That’s round #1. The real fun begins with round #2. The second person called has the choice to unwrap a gift from the pile, or, they can choose to steal whatever was unwrapped by the first person and make them pick different gift from the pile to unwrap. In round #3, the third person may steal either of the gifts already unwrapped or pick from the pile. If they steal a gift, the person they stole from can steal from the remaining person, or pick from the pile, and so on. We’ll continue like this each round. If you have your gift stolen, you can steal any gift not already stolen that same round. A round ends when a new gift is unwrapped from the pile. But what do you do if you unwrap that perfect present and want to keep it? Not to worry, for just $1/round you can purchase immunity for that round to keep any sneaky gift thieves from stealing (or stealing back) your gift! All the proceeds raised go to our FounderCare Committee! Ah, the holidays… that time of year when we gather round the parlour to play games involving bowls of flaming fruits, when naughty children face beatings and kidnappings from Germanic folk demons, and when we all hope we’re the lucky one to find the glass pickle. Sound strange? Well that’s how things were done back in the Victorian Age, and on December 23rd, TES is taking you back to that classic era for our Jolly Bloody Good Holiday Play Party!!! Costumes are encouraged, but not required, and there will be door prizes for those with the best themed costumes and scenes, so whether your preference is classical Victorian corsets or steam-punk attire, come out with your best dress! Remember, this is the era that gave us rattan canes, crops, the violet ray (better known now as the violet wand), medicine show mesmerization (hypnokink anyone?), and all sorts of kinky vintage medical equipment, including the original vibrators (though please respect the party rules regarding penetration).
