  • Leather Academy: Odile Gets Schooled

Alchemical Theatre Laboratory 104 West 14th Street, New York, United States

Once upon a time, Odile wondered where we as kinksters came from. Probably not the stork, although YKINMKBYKIO. After a few conversations with fellow kinksters about what happens when a Leather Top and a Bootblack love each other very much, she realized leather wasn't a reference to materials for floggers and whips; Leather is a Community and a Tradition. Generally thought to have developed out of post-WWII biker culture, Leather evokes imagery of Marlon Brando in The Wild One and gay Leathermen declaring their pride at events like Folsom. Leather can include individuals of every race, background, identity, and orientation, and represents a vital part of our history as a community. Odile is filled with a burning curiosity to understand what Leather is, what its relationship to the larger kink scene is, and to learn about its history. If you, like Odile, want to know more about this rich and storied community and its role as the progenitor of the modern kink scene, come watch as a panel of Leather folks school Odile on what it means to be part of the Leather community. Leather Academy Faculty: Sara_Vibes girlstacey Stacey Rose is Ms. FLAG (Fits Like A Glove) 2016. She has identified as a Leather girl since 2010 and has been active in the NYC, Los Angeles, Austin, and New England Leather communities since then. She is the President of the Connecticut girls of Leather, the former VP of Los Angeles girls of Leather, as well as the former facilitator of Masters and slaves Together (MAsT): Hartford. Her biggest fetishes are authority transfer and community service. Ninjajuicer And more to come!
